Eine ungeschichtliche historische Kom\u00f6die von Friedrich D\u00fcrrenmatt<\/strong><\/p>\n

Kaiser Romulus erreicht die ersch\u00fctternde Nachricht, dass der Germanenf\u00fcrst Odoaker vor den Toren Roms steht, was den Untergang des westr\u00f6mischen Reiches bedeuten w\u00fcrde. Gleichzeitig sind die Staatskassen leer, die Legionen geschlagen\n oder \u00fcbergelaufen.<\/p>\n

Doch der Kaiser will sich ausschlie\u00dflich seiner H\u00fchnerzucht zu widmen. Romulus\u2019 gr\u00f6\u00dftes Interesse scheint der Legefrequenz seiner Hennen zu gelten, die er allesamt nach seinen kaiserlichen Vorg\u00e4ngern und Amtskollegen benannt hat. Und\n ausgerechnet die Henne Odoaker legt t\u00e4glich drei Eier.<\/p>\n

Um die Schulden Roms zu tilgen, verkauft Romulus die Bl\u00e4tter aus seiner goldenen Lorbeerkrone und B\u00fcsten bedeutender Denker, Dichter und Staatsm\u00e4nner aus dem Thronsaal. Romulus\u2018 Ehefrau Julia sieht dem Ausverkauf der Erbst\u00fccke ihres\n Vaters verzweifelt aber machtlos zu.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n

Als die Germanen Rom erreichen, werden die Archive verbrannt, denn zum Abtransport fehlen die Mittel. Und der Kaiser schl\u00e4ft.<\/p>\n

Was niemand ahnt, ist, dass Romulus mit seiner scheinbaren Lethargie in Wirklichkeit ein h\u00f6heres Ziel verfolgt. Er arbeitet gezielt am Untergang des r\u00f6mischen Weltreiches, das es aus seiner Sicht nicht verdient hat, weiter zu bestehen,\n und er sieht sich selbst als Richter seines verkommenen Vaterlandes.<\/p>\n

Friedrich D\u00fcrrenmatts Kom\u00f6die stellt Bez\u00fcge zum Untergang des R\u00f6mischen Reiches im 5. Jahrhundert nach Christus her. Allerdings hat er sich nur sehr lose an die Historie angelehnt und diese f\u00fcr ein am\u00fcsantes und zugleich analytisch\n scharfes Denkmodell \u00fcber den Zusammenbruch hochentwickelter Zivilisationen benutzt, die an ihrer Sattheit und \u00dcberheblichkeit, mit der sie die ganze Welt begl\u00fccken, zugrunde gehen.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n
